The new capsicum season has officially started! The first boxes of Dutch capsicums have been harvested. After the green capsicums were harvested last week, other colors such as red, yellow and orange are now also available.
Walero
Since 2012 we are working togther with Walero, a leading capsicum grower with 14.5 hectares in Bleiswijk, the Netherlands.
Luc, the second generation in the company, shares his enthusiasm about the new season: "This year we have implemented some new developments in our greenhouses. With a focus on sustainability, we have invested in new technologies to reduce our water and energy consumption. So that we not only improve the quality of our peppers, but also reduce our ecological footprint."
“We had a rainy start in Holland this year, with dark wet periods. We were able to store all this water. This in combination with the re-use of all our water, means we have more than enough water to feed our plants all season long,” Luc adds.
“Now that we are harvesting again, we notice that spring has started, on sunny days we have summer temperatures in the greenhouse and the plant is doing well. Biological combatants also feel good about this. We release them from the start of the season and now have a good and varied population of biological combatants throughout the greenhouse. Let the season come,” says Luc!
